About Dan

Dan Kowakofski, a NYC based energy healer, attends to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of his clients through time-tested energy healing modalities from the East.

He has studied and practiced Qigong extensively with the internationally-renowned and highly sought-after Healer and Qigong Master Robert Peng, and is a graduate of his unique style of Qigong Healing, Elixir Light Qigong Healing School (aka Robert Peng Qigong or DanMing Qigong: 丹明 气功). He has learned there Qigong healing techniques and meditations that Master Robert Peng learned himself from his Master, Xiao Yao, a legendary monk with remarkable healing gifts. Elixir Light Qigong draws on ancient Buddhist and Taoist Qigong practices.

He also underwent a three year training in Medical Qigong from the 3 Treasures Healing Temple, following the curriculum outlined by Dr. Jerry Alan Johnson of the International Institute of Medical Qigong. The training follows Medical Qigong standards set forth by prominent universities in China, such as the Hai Dian University Medical Qigong College of Beijing, China. Hai Dian is recognized as one of the top Medical Qigong colleges in China. The International Institute of Medical Qigong was established as the first Chinese-American Overseas College of the He Nan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Zheng Zhou, China, and was affiliated with the university from 2000 - 2012.

In addition, he received Usui Reiki training at the Reiki Master/Teacher level in the lineage of Usui Reiki Shiki Ryoho.

Schedule permitting, you can also find him volunteering his time and sharing healing Reiki energy at the Third Root Community Health Center in Brooklyn, NY, providing free integrative sessions (acupuncture, Reiki, and bodywork) once a month for those in recovery from addictions.

Energy Modalities Practiced:

  • Elixir Light Qigong (丹明 气功)
  • Medical Qigong (医学气功)
  • Usui Reiki Shiki Ryōhō (臼井靈氣式療法)

His personal philosophy resonates closely to the Daoist philosophies of self-empowerment, self-cultivation, and living in harmony with nature and the world.

One of Dan's favorite stories is a Zen story about a monk who, having failed to achieve "enlightenment" through the normal Zen methods, was told by his teacher to think of nothing but an ox. Day after day after day, the monk thought of the ox, visualized the ox, meditated on the ox. Finally, one day, the teacher came to the monk's cell and said, "Come out here; I want to talk to you." "I can't get out," the monk said. "My horns won't fit through the door." I can't get out... At these words, the monk was "enlightened."
